Large pores treatment options
What causes large pores?
Large pores are one of the biggest skincare concerns among men and women.
Skin pores play an important function in the body, allowing sweat, oils, and other microscopic particles to pass through.
However, when you see in the mirror and notice tiny holes across your nose and cheeks, this results in frustration.
Many factors can contribute to overactive oil glands, but it is mostly considered to caused by oily skin, age, and gender, though they can also become enlarged by hormonal changes and skin hygiene.
Here are other causes of large pores:
Genetics. If your parents have oily skin, you are more likely to have oily skin as well.
Environment. Hot, humid, cold, and dry climates climate can increase or suck moisture and oil production.
Gender. Men generally have oilier skin, due to an increased amount of testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which can stimulate the sebaceous glands, causing excess oil production and enlarged pores. However, hormonal changes, like pregnancy, menstruation, and puberty can increase the appearance of large pores in women.
Age. As our skin ages, it loses its elasticity and becomes more prone to getting clogged with sebum, dirt and dead skin.
Oily skin. Excess oil propels dead skin cells and dirt collect in your pores.
Sun exposure. Excessive sun exposure can thicken your skin, reduce your collagen and elastin, dehydrate, and shrink the tissue beneath your skin, which stretches the edges of your pores.
